Step by step
- 1
In a pot, add the sugar and water — just enough to moisten the sugar. Cook over the highest heat until all the sugar dissolves and it starts to thicken slightly (without taking on any color).

- 2
Add the peanuts and the almonds, stir constantly and turn off the heat.

- 3
When all the peanuts and almonds are coated in sugar and it's no longer liquid, turn the heat back on to minimum and keep stirring until it takes on color.

- 4
Once it reaches the desired color, turn off the heat and keep stirring until it cools down.
