Add the cornstarch to the milk. Mix well with a whisk or fork until there are no lumps left.

Put the sugar in a pan over medium heat on the stove. Wait until the caramel forms.

Once the caramel has taken on a copper color, add the butter and mix well.

Once the butter is incorporated into the caramel, add the milk and cornstarch mixture little by little, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth. When it comes to a boil, lower the heat to the lowest setting and keep stirring for one minute.

Pour the mixture into the serving cups and let it rest at room temperature for one hour. Then move it to the refrigerator. Optional: you can press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the pudding to keep a skin from forming.
