Potato bread is a very soft and extremely fluffy bread, perfect alongside lots of meals — and as a hamburger bun it's a solid 10.

Step by step

    Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Then add the potato and let it cook for 30 minutes. Poke it to check if it's done, and if so, take the potato out.

    Before it cools down, peel it using a kitchen towel to remove the skin easily, then let it cool. Set aside.

    In another bowl, add the flour, the sugar and the salt. Mix and set aside.

    In a bowl with the warm milk, crumble in the yeast. Let it sit for a minute to settle, then stir. Set aside.

    Grate the potato into the bowl with the flour and pour in the milk with the yeast. Mix everything well, and when it gets hard to stir, turn it out onto the counter and continue with your hands.

    Once the dough is well formed, add the room-temperature butter, first breaking up the dough and then kneading.

    Cover and let it rest for 30 to 60 minutes.

    Cut into pieces of the size you like and shape each one into a tight ball, placing them in a baking dish. (The shaping technique is explained in detail in the video)

    Cover and let them rise until doubled in size.

    Brush them with water and sprinkle seeds on top. (Optional)

    Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 45 minutes.
