Vanilla Cookies
I'll show you how to keep them from losing their shape so you get whatever figures you like best. Perfect for kids — and for grown-ups who like to play!

Step by step

In a bowl, add the room-temperature butter and the sugar. Beat until creamy.

Add an egg and the vanilla extract. Mix until combined.

Add the flour, cornstarch, and salt, preferably through a sieve. Beat again.

Turn out onto the counter and finish bringing it together with your hands, kneading as little as possible.

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour.

Unwrap and roll out with a rolling pin, remembering to flour underneath and on top so it doesn't stick.

Cut out whatever shapes you like with cookie cutters and place them on a baking sheet.

Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 5 minutes.
